Hello! I am a part of my school’s Speech and Debate team, and just this month, our team competed in the Districts competition, which acts as our national qualifier.
I competed in 3 events: Foreign Extemporaneous Speaking, Public Forum, and Congress.
Even though I didn’t advance far enough for foreign extemp and public forum, I did very well in the congressional debate. Out of the 36 competitors in the House, I won 1st place and qualified to compete in the Nationals in June.
I’m super pleased with the results of this tournament, and I’m so excited to compete in Nationals since this will be my first time going. I could not have done this without the help of my family, but most importantly, the help of my sister. She is an experienced debater and is the captain of the debate team. I learned so much from her and from other competitors as well.
